You can participate in the jazz concerts ranging from classical to contemporary. There are talk shows and lectures by leading scholars and artists on the Museum’s collection.
The Jazz under the Stars, Dallas summer concert starts every Thursday at 7.00 pm at the Mary Baker Russell Amphitheatre. The performances are free for everyone.
Coffee by The Starbuck Coffee Company is on the house. The Company also distributes free Star Charts at each performance.
Jazz Under the Stars, Dallas is co-sponsored by PLU Summer Sessions, the Department of Music, Starbucks Coffee Company and the 88.5 KPLU.
The upcoming concerts are by pianist Simone Dinnerstein on J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations on 23 September 2007 at the Atrium.
Next is Bancroft Family Concert presented by the Fine Arts Chamber Players on Saturday 27 October 2007. It is a free concert for all ages ending with a children’s parade in the Atrium.
There are many family activities along with the regular Jazz programs like Family Films, Storytelling for the Kids, sketching and Studio creations. There are community exhibitions and workshops on Van Gogh at the Dallas community center.
