    Texas State Fair, Dallas

    The Texas State Fair, Dallas is the popular annual state fair in Dallas, Texas which generally comes into operation by the end of September and gets over by the mid of October and is held in the Fair Park in Dallas which is of historic significance in the city of Dallas and this park is known to act as the venue of this state fair since the year 1886. This fair is signified by its symbol of the Big Tex which is a 52ft tall cowboy and has come to symbolize the occasion since he was introduced in the year 1952. The hinge of Big Tex was attached in the year 1953 so as to facilitate him to announce the events of the fair.


    The State Fair in Dallas, Texas is known to be the largest state fair in the US and this fair is known to enjoy a huge popularity in terms of attendance by the residents and tourists in unison and over 3million people are known to visit the fair every year.



    This fair is known to feature the largest Ferris wheel in North America and in the year 2003 this fair was estimated to have promoted apparently $350 million to the economy of Dallas. One of the traditional centers of attraction in this fair is the game of annual college football played between Texas and Oklahoma and this game is nicknamed as the ‘The Red River Shootout’. This game is played at the Cotton Bowl in the Fair Park itself and this state fair is also known to be the only fair featuring a full blown auto show and it’s known to include more than 300,00 sq ft of vehicles belonging to the new models, twin buildings and Truck Zone and test drive Track. This state fair has acted as the launch pad for Chevy Tahoe and Ford Sporttrac in 2007 and the Chevy Silverado in 2008.

    This fair has rejuvenated its image as an event which features the unique and the high fat food items and is specifically known for the Fletcher’s brand corny dogs for years and recently the deep fired food items have also been introduced in this fair which comprise of the deep-fried Oreo cookies; deep-fried Twinkies; deep-fried pork ribs; fried cheesecake; deep-fried peanut butter, jelly, and banana sandwiches including the batter-based fried Coke. The automobile show is another interesting aspect of the fair and is known to continue for 3 weeks of the fair. The admission fee in the state fair park comprises of $11 for adults, $7 for seniors and kids and for parking also its $7.
