The Civilian Conservation Corps including the Dallas Park Board started working on developing the shores of this lake into the parkland in order to materialize the residential development of the area.
The neighborhoods that developed around this lake are known to have recognized as the most desired residential zones in the city and those residential areas include the likes of Lakewood, Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills, Old Lake Highlands, Lake Park Estates, and Casa Linda.
