    Weather and Climate of Dallas

    Dallas is located in north-central Texas, 70 miles south of the Oklahoma border and 174 miles west of Louisiana. The city is situated on the rolling plains near the headwaters of the Trinity River. Weather and Climate of Dallas is humid and subtropical, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. The rainy season occurs in April and May. July and August are the driest summer months. Occasionally, warm and humid air from the south overrides cold, dry air, leading to freezing rain, which usually causes major disruptions in the city for a day or two.

    Dallas experiences four distinct seasons with summer running from June through September. Temperatures reach their zenith during July and August when they can reach around 100°F / 38°C.


    Dallas receives most of its visitors in springtime when heavy rainfalls can be experienced, however, these showers are usually thunderstorms are also more frequent during spring in Dallas. Winter in Dallas is usually very mild and lasts from November through February and daytime temperatures can reach up to 19°C / 66°F, but infrequent dips in temperature do happen and temperatures can be as low as 0°C / 32°F.



    Spring and autumn bring very pleasant weather to the area and are usually the best times to visit. In the spring months, visitors appreciate the beauty of the vibrant wildflowers like bluebonnet and Indian paintbrush, which bloom in spring and are planted around the highways throughout Texas.
