    Dallas Love Field Airport

    Dallas Love Field Airport is located at a distance of approximately 8 km or 5 miles (northwest) from the central business district of Dallas, Texas, the USA. The airport is build over a land of total 1,300 acres. Dallas Love Field is equipped with 3 runways. Till 1974, when the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was built, Dallas Love Field Airport was the primary airport to serve in Dallas. Presently, Dallas Love Field Airport is the secondary airport to serve Dallas. Dallas Love Field Airport is the fortress hub of the Southwest Airlines. Continental Express and American Airlines operate from Love Field as well.


    Dallas Love Field Airport started operating on October 19, 1917. The airport is located at the southeast of Bachman Lake. The name of the airport was given in honor of Lieutenant Moss Lee love, died in a plane crash in San Diego, California. In 1927, Love Field airport was opened for civilians.



    The famous Braniff Airways shifted its headquarter to Dallas Love Field Airport in 1936. On October 20, 1957, Love Field’s Terminal building was dedicated and on January 20, 1958, the airport was opened for the airlines services. Initially the Terminal complex at Dallas Love Field Airport was made with 26 ramp-level gates. Barniff, Continental, Trans Texas, American and Delta are the airlines operating from the airport at the initial level. In the year 1959, The Vickers Viscount turboprop was initiated by Continental Airlines and American Airlines started the flight of Boeing 707 to New York from Dallas Love Field Airport.
