Dallas Area Rapid Transit is a Dallas based authority that runs buses on the roads of Dallas. Roadways are the main artery of Dallas through which, both local people and tourists commute. Dallas Area Rapid Transit operates light rail (both surface and under-ground), buses and commuter rail and HOV rails that connect different parts of Dallas and Dallas to the 12 suburb cities. Dallas Area Rapid Transit is the largest operator of light rail in the state of Texas, the USA.
Dallas Transit System or DTS was the parent concern of Dallas Area Rapid Transit. From 1964 to 1988 this organization served as the publicly owned mass transit in Dallas, Texas, the United Sates. Various streetcar lines and privately owned transit companies were merged together to create this organization of Dallas Transit System. Before, the transit company in Dallas got the name, DTS, its name was Dallas Railway and Terminal Company. At that time Dallas had an extensive line of Streetcar companies.
